Comparing Your Business to Others? Let’s Talk.

New Year. New Goals! 👋

This year, we’re no longer saying new year, new me. We’re saying new year, new goals.

The reason behind it? It’s simple. We’re already growing — as a business and as people.

There’s no need to erase the progress we’ve made or start over as someone “new.” Instead, we’re building on what’s already working and setting thoughtful goals to help us keep moving forward.

One of the best ways to stay focused on your goals is to stop comparing your journey to someone else’s. When you focus on your own progress, strengths, and what truly aligns with you, goal-setting becomes clearer and a lot more meaningful.

Leave The Comparison Game Behind

Let’s be honest — running a small business in the age of social media can mess with your head a little. One scroll and suddenly it feels like everyone else is booked out, scaling effortlessly, and doing things better than you are.

But here’s the truth: comparison is one of the fastest ways to steal your confidence and your momentum.

Every business has a different starting point, capacity, season, and goal — but we rarely see that part online. We see highlight reels, polished graphics, and big wins… not the late nights, messy middle, or behind-the-scenes stress.

If you’re feeling stuck in comparison mode, try this:

  • Focus on your progress, not someone else’s pace. Growth doesn’t look the same for everyone, your big win will be different from theirs.

  • Unfollow accounts that make you feel discouraged. Curate your feed so it supports you, not drains you. It really is that easy to just hit that "unfollow" button!

  • Measure success by alignment, not aesthetics. What works for someone else may not be right for your business and there is NO shame in that.

  • Celebrate quiet wins. Consistency, showing up, and staying in business all matter — even if they don’t make flashy posts.

💡 Reminder: You don’t need to run your business like anyone else. You just need to run it in a way that works for you.

💛 A Gentle Reframe

Instead of asking, “Why aren’t I there yet?” Try asking, “What’s working for me right now?”

When you shift your focus back to your own goals, values, and capacity, comparison loses its power — and clarity starts to return.

Your business isn’t behind. You’re building something real — and that takes time. Stay in your lane, trust your process, and remember: progress doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful.

Cheers to your New Years goals!
